Veterans Day Prayer Service

Join Historic Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown (ca 1697) at 10 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 for a Veterans Day prayer service in the historic church. Following the service, we’ll proceed to the churchyard for a brief ceremony that will include the playing of “Taps” and a hand salute (as appropriate for active duty military/veterans) or with reverence, to the 107 known veterans buried in the Grace cemetery and all deceased men and women who have served our country in uniform. Those at rest in this historic cemetery include veterans who served in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, both World Wars, Cold War, Korean War and Vietnam. All graves of known veterans have a veterans marker and U.S. flag. The historic church bell (ca 1725) will then be tolled 21 times as part of the nationwide “Bells of Peace” initiative.
